some days were meant for spending in bed. today was one of those days, so i did.
i woke up with some mild uncomfortability (of a variety that will remain nameless), but went through my normal 'get ready' process. as the minutes passed, my symptoms began to escalate and it wasn't long before i found myself being reintroduced to my old friend, the porcelain god. and we spent a lot of time getting reacquainted. why do i feel like this is totally uncalled for? my 'weekend of hell'--you know, the weekend my entire house was taken down by the flu--wasn't that long ago. does it seem fair that i'm sick again when others still haven't been sick? it doesn't to me either, but what are you gonna do.
to make matters worse, on my way back from a water run (to the downstairs fridge), i learned a valuable lesson. foot duvets+hardwood floors=danger, danger, will robinson. unfortunately, my ankle (yes, the same ankle i tweaked snowboarding) was the one who paid for that lesson.
so i'm heating my abs, icing my ankle, and wishing i could just call it a day already!

5 things i learned while reviewing the grammy noms
1. there are almost as many latin related categories as american. don't get me wrong, i appreciate latin music, but don't they have their own grammy's? i think they are called the latin grammys. i just think categories like: best traditional tropical latin album, best mexican/mexican-american album, and best tejano album are a little bit much.
2. there is a category for 'best recording package'. i'm not really sure what that means.
3. bruce springsteen is a folk singer. (he is nominated for best contemporary folk album.)
4. beethoven is still being nominated.
5. there apparently is such a thing as a 'best polka album'.

on leno tonight
my co-worker ray's dad will be on leno tonight with his 5 year old trumpet prodigy, and will also be sitting in with the Tonight Show Band..
i admit it
i skipped the super bowl. all of it. game. commercials. the whole shebang. i'm not a football fan, so it seems sort of hypocritical to tune in for one game a year. but i do enjoy the commercials, and this year i'm catching up on them through youtube.
a couple of faves:
(only because i can relate)
and was diddy's diet pepsi commercial one of the lamest you've ever seen?

great music
my first introduction to my sister-in-law came by way of a letter from my brother. it was accompanied by a cd of song covers she had recorded in a byu studio. i was skeptical, but i immediately fell in love with the purity of spirit that comes through when kelly sings.
i often listen to those songs on sundays. though only a couple of them are 'religious', i find them to be an appropriate fit for the sabbath.
i thought i would share a couple of my favorites:
a perfect love
somewhere over the rainbow
vienna
